Baroque Palace Belvedere in ViennaThe famous Baroque architect Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt built the Palace Belvedere located in Vienna South in the early 18th Century as a summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663-1736). The castle ensemble, consisting of upper and lower Belvedere, the Orangery, and the Palace Stables and extensive gardens, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most beautiful baroque buildings in Europe.Worth seeing are the historic marble hall in which the Austrian State Treaty was signed in 1955, the Château Chapel and the magnificent Sala Terrana, in which the works of more than 500 years of art history are shown. The palace garden was designed by the Bavarian garden architect Dominique Girard. From the Upper Belvedere palace you can see a breathtaking panorama of the city of Vienna. This gorgeous view is also responsible for the naming of the palace, Belvedere means "beautiful view". Around the upper castle are many beautiful busty marble statues, which have a certain sex appeal. The gorgeous garden connects the "Upper" with the "Lower Belvedere" to a baroque ensemble. Inside the City Palace you will find a collection of the Belvedere Gallery with paintings by Schiele, Klimt, Kokoschka and other wellknown Austrian artists. |
