Baumgartenschneid Mountain over Riederstein chapel
We start the four-hour easy hiking at the Alpach car park above Tegernsee village. At the mountain inn Riederstein we take a short break with a beer from the Tegernsee brewery, then continue along the steep pilgrimage path pasing the statue of the Virgin Mary in the rock up to the Riederstein chapel (1207 m). Colorful martyrs accompany us on the pilgrimage path. Continuing along a steep forested ridge called Galaun, we reach the summit of the Baumgartenschneid (1449 m), the local mountain of Ludwig Thoma, in serpentines. Deep below us are the Riederstein chapel and the lake Tegernsee. Back we hike downhill over the Baumgartenalm, Sagfleckl and the Prinzenweg into the Alpach valley. The recorded GPS track shows the beautiful mountain hike across the Riederstein Chapel to Baumgartenschneid summit. |
